What if you didn’t want to spend time with someone, you actually didn’t force yourself to go be with them? And you especially didn’t feel guilty about not going. Can you imagine what that would feel like? I’ve discovered that by living the message of No Judgment. Just Love.™ , for myself and others, it has allowed me to do what’s best for me first and as a result I have found that when I do that, it turns out to be the best for everyone else. And most of all, the guilt I used to feel by putting myself first, has lessened, and for the most part gone away completely! Because if I really don’t want to be there, I’m not truly being present and they are not getting all of me anyway. I’m distracted, thinking and wishing I were someplace else. That preoccupied energy will come through.
Here’s an example: My friends and I play tennis on Sunday mornings. We also have a GNO (Girls Night Out) on a weekday once a month and invite each other to our family celebrations. I am there on Sundays excited to play and have social time. So I go to tennis willingly every time. We laugh; I get great exercise and leave happy feeling more connected to my friends. In contrast, I am busy during the week as an entrepreneur building two companies- No Judgment. Just Love.™ and The Whole Family Coaching. Then add to that, I am also a single mom raising a teenager! So I’m pretty tired in the evenings on weekdays. For a while I just couldn’t go to GNO or other gatherings because of a business or parenting commitment. I felt guilty that I had missed so many opportunities to celebrate with my friends that I forced myself to go a GNO because I felt obligated and thought it was the right thing to do. I was miserable! I couldn’t focus on any conversations, I found myself daydreaming or just staring off into space with no connection to the party that was going on around me. I wasn’t being present for my friends, so I left early and got to thinking…”How was that good for anyone?” My answer: “It wasn’t.” From that moment forward, I no longer subject myself or others to that uncomfortable feeling by being somewhere when I really don’t want to be there. From the place of No Judgment Just Love™, I understand now that
